After the bike maintenance day came car maintenance day, or at least a try. I'd planned to replace the brake pads and thought that I had everything that I needed ... not. With the wheel off, trying to remove the calipers, I found that I needed a 9mm hex bit. Dang. I had 8 and I had 10 in an allen wrench but no 9. I've got a number of Allen sets and they come 6,8,10. I had purchased a 7 for another bmw brake job. Why do they choose odd numbers ?
So ... I called into town and Steve researched for me, had the same issue. I was going in anyway to the Post Office and mailed that wheel hub to Peter White.
I then tried manufacturing a 9mm by grinding a 10 Allen wrench but no luck. It must have had some taper because it was slipping and I didn't want to try any more and strip the screw because then I'd be screwed.
I did all this in the barn with PIC coils burning. They chase away the skeetoes and probably shorten my life.
It rained most of the day and was supposed to rain today but it's just cloudy and the predicted rain is supposed to be over (30% predicted) by 11am, so basically we've got a cloudy day.
Onward !
