Jun 5 - car maintenance, success

I decided to go into Sudbury and see if I could find a 9mm hex bit or, failing that, at least a 9mm allen wrench.  Princess Auto had a huge selection of SAE, Torx and Metric and after probably 1/2 hour sorting through all the items, I chose two Allen sets and then, with one last look, found what I was looking for.  It's actually a nice set with hex bits ranging from tiny with 1/4" drive to medium (including the 9mm) 3/8" drive and then larger with 1/2" drive.  Now, of course, I need a set for Florida.  I should have bought it at the same time !

I also stopped at Costco to pick up a few items and then was back home for a late lunch (late for me !).

Not wanting to let any grass grow under my feet, I was up in the barn and did the brakes.  The front calipers and pads are humongous, with two cylinders.  The rears look tiny in comparison.  The fronts take the 9mm; the rears a 7mm.

After changing the pads, I took it out for a spin and braking was smooth.  I forgot to reset the service interval but I'll do that today as I intend to go into town for the mail.

Perhaps this upcoming week I'll tackle Sandy's car.  I bought new rotors and pads for her car in the Spring of 2018, expecting to do that last year. I should also pick up brake fluid and flush her brake lines, as I did with the M5.  Her fluid is probably cleaner, not sitting around in the heat; at least I hope so !

I drove through the rain to Sudbury and it was kind of misty and drizzly all day.  Jason et al arrived before 7pm and came over for a glass of wine.  We both had a late dinner.

On Tuesday, in the heavier rain, I brought down the big ladder and cleaned the gutters on the high roof.  They were full of water and spilling over.  I always wait until it's raining to clean the gutters ... because that's when I remember :).  David gave me some gutter protectors for Christmas and I believe that he said that they came with installation :).  I've never had much success with these things, having tried various types in Florida where we had the small Live Oak leaves on Saxon.  Maybe these will work better; time will tell !

We have several beautiful days coming up including Saturday for my 400k out of Barrie.  My current plan is to stay overnight in Barrie on Friday night.  By the time I get back (and Sandy gets back), Jason will be gone, as they're planning on leaving on Saturday.

Onward !
