I rode on the 22nd. Wahoo was showing over 100F at times. Ugh. It was that hot that I couldn't get through without multiple stops - dehydration, cramps etc. - but I did get through my 100k nominal.
On the 23rd, it was time to get some things organized. Haircut. Appointment for X5. Appointments for teeth cleaning here and Christmas travels appointments in Oakville. Visit the roof place and start that process. They'll call me to setup a time to inspect. Get the boat going. Take Cassie out.
Amazingly enough, once I got the cover off and battery installed, the boat started right up. I did that with the muffs, not wanting to drop it down into the salt water unless I knew that it was going to work. Of course before I did that, I also had to go and get some gas ! I ran it for a short while and then awaited a rise in the water level to take Cassie out. Of course she was dancing whenever I "looked like" I might go down to the boat.
I had to tell Sandy that I did have a problem when I went to launch the boat. I started the boat lift down, swiveled the platform around to the stern, put in the plug, squeezed in between the post and the boat and .... yikes !! .... stung on the cheek, back, leg .... yikes !! wasps everywhere !!! Ouch !!!
I am having a bad year with bee/hornet/wasp stings !! It took a while; I couldn't find the nest. I had been working at the stern before and didn't have a problem ... where is the dang nest ?!?! -- well, it was on the lead ball that weighs down the cable and straps. Since the ball was now about 3' lower, the wasps were all landing on the cable. They obviously have amazing navigation and poor eyesight ! A quick shot of spray and that killed the nest and discouraged them from landing on the cable. It was just a starter nest, thank goodness, a couple of inches in diameter.
That was definitely the excitement for the day.
It was Wednesday, so we had our normal Wednesday dinner at the club. The usual suspects were there. We're home.
Jason, Lorraine and Kim arrive today. Sandy is bustling about organizing dinner.
Onward !
