Said and I were ice fishing all day. The fish were biting; we just weren't catching ... fish, that is. We hauled in a 4' piece of wood and another fish obviously got the line around a rock because I had to break the line. The fish had pulled the line all the while we made a trip to the dump.
We went through a lot of minnows. Whatever was down there was feasting on our minnows.
And then I spotted the snake. They're supposed to be underground hibernating, but out on the ice ? What ? The snake was obviously very sluggish. I picked it up by the tail and carried it to land where it found some place to bury itself. Your garden variety garter snake ... in a very odd place.
That was pretty much the day. We had pike (from the other day) and pickerel (from Costco) for dinner.
Today we head back to Oakville for yet another dentist appointment. Sandy would have gone by herself but I have some errands to run.
Southward !
