Mar 15-18 - more days

I wouldn't exactly call it a routine, but the days keep going by.  We did go to a local restaurant - Sandy, Sheryl and I - just over by the theaters on US 1, walking distance away.  We sat outside and had corned beef and cabbage, after all, it was St. Paddy's day.  I've been for a couple of bike rides.  Sandy went into Orlando and had her hair done.  Her eye gets better and better, making the wide disparity between the eyes and her prescription even worse.  She tried a couple of things yesterday - having one lens popped out (bad) and wearing a contact on the wrong eye.  That somewhat worked.

My Japan ride was cancelled, naturally.  Ireland at the end of June is looking unlikely.  I don't think that we can get there from here !  Speaking of travel issues, Kim and Graham are stuck in Peru - Lima, I believe - as no flights are leaving or entering that country.  If/When that eases up and they are able to come to Canada (best) or US, we'll assist.  I don't know, however, whether the US would let them in, at this point.  Everything's up in the air ... or not.

Sheryl is planning on heading home next week, an extended driving trip.  No doubt she'll be able to get home as a returning Canadian.  We will "probably" be able to go to our cottage in May, as Canadians heading to a residence, but that's not 100% clear or guaranteed.  It's also a lot more difficult to buy groceries there ... another wait and see situation.

Meanwhile the number of reported cases of COVID-19 grows in the US; almost parallel to the y-axis.  That will continue for some time, I expect.  There would be even more if massive testing were underway.  I understand that 50,000 tests have been executed in Canada, dwarfing what has taken place in the US.  What a mess.  There's huge disparity in how this is being handled and perceived across the country, from shelter-in-place orders in California to spring-breaker crowded beaches in Georgia and Florida.  The worst is yet to come.

Personally, I don't know of anyone who has been tested positive or anyone who has had symptoms, but that doesn't mean that they aren't all around us.  Attendance at Mass has fallen; roadways are less crowded (but still more crowded than they should be, if people were really taking this seriously). Perhaps gas stations should be shut down ... that'd do it.

Onward ... I hope.
