What's the new "event of the day ?" - going to the grocery store ? Yup. And so I did.
At 6pm the store was practically empty. Still, I wish that I could self checkout, self bag. There must have been at least a half-dozen staff whose only job was sanitizing grocery carts, frozen food handles etc. Perhaps, like TSA at the airports, it's just a feel-good thing. I'm getting much better at being aware of touching my face. I can go to the store, push a cart around, handle my groceries, drive home and then wash my hands thoroughly. What I can't combat is airborne virus particles in the store. Being mostly empty, one hopes that there would be fewer, or none. While I could wear a mask, that mask would have to be disposed of or washed after each use. My supply of N95 masks - two - won't last very long once I open the package.
Earlier in the a.m. it rained, a carryover from the day before. I decided to postpone my bike ride for a day and took Cassie to the sandbar when it cleared and then moved to the banana side of the mangroves at low tide, chop chop chop. Earlier than that, at high tide, while Sandy was walking with Cassie, I used the pole trimmer to get at some of the mangroves on the island out front and by my dock. I'm going to keep chipping away at the island and now that I've done the other side of the mangroves, give that a couple of days to spring up and then get back in there and deal with the balance. I've got a good sized pile of mangroves out at the street now for yard waste pickup that has now moved to Wednesdays, effective April 1.
That's about it.
Oh, apparently Sheryl had to undergo a 15 minute grilling when she crossed the border into Canada, providing phone numbers and signing docs. They'll have a hard time tracking our cell phone, if they actually do that, once we turn east on 522 ... assuming that we head north early May as planned. We shall see.
Onward.
