Well, not quite. Today, Friday is going to be a busy day moving stuff inside etc.
In the meantime, however, I've gotten in a couple of very hot rides, one of them wet to boot. Hot, humid, I still don't finish all my water but when I get back I have such a thirst. Over the next couple of hours, I drink about 2 liters of fizzy water. The sodastream is a huge saver in single use plastic bottles.
Cassie has been over to the sandbar a couple of times. Yesterday was her last before heading north and I prepped and covered the boat. Sandy's kayak is on the dock and that will be moved into the garage. Today, Friday, Cassie goes to the groomer; no more salt water for her until the Fall ... hopefully !
Sandy has been gardening. She pulled out a couple of crappy plants, weeded and laid down mulch. She had to stop yesterday as the thunderstorms rolled in. Those same thunderstorms caused the cancellation of the manned launch on Wednesday ... we figured it would be cancelled but drove to the beach anyway, an investment of 15 minutes. We won't see it, whenever it goes, since we plan to leave tomorrow a.m. for the Great White North.
I've got much of the packing organized but not in the trailer because it's too dang hot. A few of the shutters are in place; that will be partly dealt with today and then finalized just before we leave. It's depressing being inside with the shutters closed so that's one of the last things on the list. Speaking of lists ... I don't have one. I should really develop a NSB close up list similar to the extensive one for the cottage.
We ate at the club on Wednesday, their grand reopening. Stuart and LiAnn were there, two of the regular Wednesday crowd. We sat the next table over so that we could chat. There was no one else in the bar area and I think only a couple of tables occupied in the dining room. People are nervous about eating inside ... with good reason ... but we figured that this would be pretty quiet. Last night was our last cooking at home; we'll eat at the Tiki tonight. By that point the barbie will be in the garage, along with chairs & tables, kayak and other outdoor odds and sods.
In the midst of the thunderstorm before dinner suddenly there was a flash-bang, or perhaps that's a boom. It was huge. Neighbors gathered outside to see if anything nearby had been hit but we couldn't see anything. Lights were still on. Later Sandy mentioned that she thought that Jim & Joanne's dock light had been on and was now off. Sure enough, Joanne texted that their gazebo had been hit or at least affected; electronics fried, internet down ... yikes. That's too close for comfort. Most of the electronics are protected here with ups and surge protection but it's all a matter of degree.
We have a busy day ahead of us and then northward !
