Yes, it's been another 10 days. It was a busy 10.
Sandy is mostly finished the deck staining, just one set of steps by the kitchen to do. Kylie and Jesse came for a weekend. I did a 600k. We made a trip to Bala to explore a bike route and have lunch. Actually lunch was at "The wood fired pizza joint" in Bala. The Clear Lake Brewery is there too and I brought home a six pack. Sandy got to see the Torrance Barrens.
On the way back to Bala we picked up some sort-of hitchhikers. They were stranded and walking on the road apparently with car trouble although I'm not sure that we got the entire story. When we stopped for lunch they tried to hitchhike to Gravenhurst. Eventually they gave up and came to the restaurant. She didn't speak any English; his was broken; apparently they were from Turkey and have been in Canada for a year. They only had one mask between them but Sandy gave them a spare. I'm betting that they entered Canada as refugees but who knows; we'll surely never know.
The 600k was tough, of course, since I had not ridden anything longer than 50k in forever. Marty was good company and we got through it - a dual 300k out of Parry Sound. We stayed at the Traveler's Hotel, a typical strip motel, the night before and night during. A new experience for me, I had a 5 hour night stop on a 600k. Still, I was sleepy. We finished up the first day before 8pm and the second at 6pm, with two hours to spare. Anything else is overachieving, right ? Anything less is cutting it close :).
Today it's very windy and pouring rain. Internet has been on and off; TV has been on and off.
Jason & Lorraine have come and gone. Kim and Chili are the constants. Cassie stayed here yesterday while we were jaunting and was awaiting our return in the driveway when we got back.
Bobbie doesn't have long to go. Multiple cancerous lesions in her brain stem. Paul says that they going to try radiation on that but although we might hope for the best, I can't imagine what she's going through. I can only hope that she is able to make her own decisions. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.
