Jul 25-Aug 3 - I'm getting worse

It's hard to remember what's happened when so many days have gone by !  Let's seeeeeee:

- I might have finished the plumbing work in there; all's well with the lake watering system except that either the foot valve is leaking a little or a connection up the line because the pump does run occasionally.

- David and Vanda came on Thursday

- I started into sanding the deck on Thursday doing a little bit at the Davies end of the front deck; David and I continued on Friday and Saturday, getting all the front deck completed.  Left to do: the kitchen side and back; still lots of SF of deck.

- Somewhere in there my sander was giving up the ghost, not hanging onto the hook and loop pads getting worse and worse.  I've ordered a replacement for the sander side, which has the loops - that's only a $12 part.

- Part of that order from Amazon is also some more sanding pads with coarser grit.  We've been using 80's but they were running in short supply so I was using 100's but those are really not good enough to remove material and especially bad when the sander keeps losing the sanding disc !  I've ordered 60's and 40's.  There was one area under the front moveable step to the sliding door where I used the belt sander to get down to the wood.

- Also yesterday Gavin, Amanda, Jason, David ... a team effort ... getting ropes over that tree section that's hanging over the barn.  Gavin tried the compound bow of my Dad's and we ended up with a couple of arrows hanging from the branches with strings attached.  Kyle suggested slingshot and fishing line which eventually did the trick.  I had problems pulling up heavier rope so I pulled up string, then 3/16" rope then heavier to the middle section; by the trunk I'm only up to the 3/16".

There's a gang next door - Jas & Lo; Kim & Graham; Gavin and Amanda; Kyle & Leslie.

Out front we have a flock of geese going by.

David's friend Chris + spouse and 2 boys dropped in for the afternoon yesterday. Chris is a Sarnia Police officer. I probably knew that before but I'd forgotten so now I've recorded it for future reference :).  They are on a 3 week camping trip making the rounds heading north and then west.  Right now they're at Grundy Lake.

We've been eating well.  Vanda treated us on Friday; Sandy did lamb on Saturday; last night it was burgers. Tonight I'm sure that we'll have fish.

Sandy bought a new kayak; a 12' job that's still in Sudbury.  No doubt we'll be heading to get it either tomorrow or Thursday.

The summer is rushing by.

There was something weird going on with the humidity in the FL house so I had Lisa go in and check.  Perhaps it was just a flaky thermostat reading because it's back to normal.  Perhaps, if I remember, I'll position a hygrometer close enough to the camera so that I can rotate and pick up an alternate reading.  Anyway, all seemed to be well.  I was worried about either water incursion or perhaps one of the A/C units not draining properly but they all seem ok.

Onward ...
