Oct 6-7 - another day older

Not a year, not really, just a day. Oct 6th was Sandy's day.

I made a run to Parry Sound - Pioneer gas, farmer's market, walmart, canadian tire, sobeys, harvey's, sobeys. Parry Sound is nice and compact.

The 2nd trip to Sobey's was because I forgot one of the most important items - Sandy's birthday cake.

There's nowhere to go out for dinner so we planning on Swiss Chalet takeout.  Unbeknownst to Sandy, I'd made arrangements with Kim for her and Graham to come over for cake (and latte/wine) once I texted her. We had a little - emphasis on the little - party.  Hey, you do what you have to do.

After getting back from Parry Sound and dropping things off, I made a run into Port Loring for mail, to drop off egg cartons (with someone who will take them to a farm in Golden Valley) and Home Hardware.  The egg carton thing was arranged via the Argyle facebook page. Sandy had spotted some time ago that someone was looking for egg cartons so I mentioned that on the FB page and got a quick response.  That page is turning out to be useful.

I finished off the work on the boathouse roof and now have more concrete top-n-bond work to do.  The bag is still in the car as of this morning.  I also moved some stuff up to the trailer and got Graham's "professional opinion" as to the tongue weight on that trailer. The hitch says max 350 pounds and I have no way of measuring the tongue weight.  He figured it was running close to 200 which seems a little much to me, so I rearranged a bit, shifting from front to back, and reduced that a little.

Both days featured rain on and off.  I've prepped the shed for some touch-up paint but need the siding to dry.  Said prep consisted of scraping lichen ...

I also did a better aka neater job of hanging the new conduit, using tapcon screws vs pipe hanger.

Sandy is supposed to head into Sudbury today to shop for Thanksgiving dinner.  Current plans are:  David and Vanda Friday Night to Monday a.m.; everyone else sometime Saturday (guessing) and leaving Monday; dinner on Sunday.  Everyone else consists of Stef, Kyle & Jesse, Lauren & Carter.  We'll also have Kim Davies and Annemarie and Ron - 12 of us.  Aaron is worried about exposure and will stay in Barrie.  Lauren has had some mild stomach upset and had a covid test.  She'll find out before coming up whether it's negative (I'm 99.99999999999 % sure that it will be).

Current plan likely has us leaving on the 17th or 18th ... it doesn't look like we'll have frost before our departure.

Sandy's garden is just about kaput.  There are a few tomatoes (green) still on the vine; beans, carrots are done; zucchini for dinner last night probably the last; kale never harvested; green peppers were good but gone; beets and broccoli never did anything.
