With Sandy overseeing the bathroom work, I made a trip north to see Jeffrey, Sara, Emma, Zoe and Matthew. Leaving early Friday, I was there by dinner. Leaving PA early Monday, I was home for dinner. The trip is about 15:30 which included 4 stops on the way back - two Starbucks and two fuel. It is a long drive. On paper it's shorter via I95 but in practice I95/I26/I77/I81 has fewer traffic slowdowns. Even Waze was flipping back and forth as to which was faster. That tells you something.
As usual, I kept myself busy. I finished off the basement plumbing, i.e. the water filter and softener. I also installed a small under sink hot water tank in the kitchen. The latter wasn't without complications - slow leaks that shouldn't have occurred and then a re-do of the electrical. I had hoped that tapping into the dishwasher circuit would work but no luck. It tripped the circuit breaker. Dang. I had to drill down through the floor and use a circuit in the basement. I could have run it right over to the panel but instead used the basement lighting circuit. These days with cfl and led bulbs, those circuits are usually well underutilized.
Not being very good at hanging around with nothing to do and the kids going back to school after the weekend (home school that is), I opted to head out on Monday once I woke up. Jeffrey is swamped and didn't need me hanging out. I'm a mixed blessing at the best of times :).
We have walls in the NSB upstairs bathroom now. Leo has hung the drywall and completed two coats of mud. Who'd a thunk that HD would have a run on drywall mud ? Stuck in the Suez Canal perhaps ? Who knows. He found some at Lowes which only had a couple of buckets left. Luke was in and installed the shower pan. We're just about ready to start tiling. Once tiling is complete in the shower and floor, Leo can hang doors and do finishing touches. I will do the basin plumbing installing yet another point-of-use water heater. They're on special now and I'm making good use of the special. If I had just a little more initiative, I'd also install one for the Master bath basin, or at least Sandy's side. I'm thinking about it. Power is the issue.
I was out for a bike ride on Tuesday, temperature constantly showing up as three digits on my Wahoo. Pretty brutal. Yesterday was our 40th anniversary and we went out for Sushi. Today, Thursday, Sandy has a Dr appointment in Jacksonville and will meet Patti Himes for lunch. After that she sees a gynecologist recommended by her gyne in Radnor who is soon to retire. The trouble with getting old, among other things, is that your doctors retire. She's already had her annual; now getting ready for the future.
Speaking of Drs, I had my annual physical yesterday. Last year was via zoom or equivalent. No red flags in the bloodwork. My weight is down as is my height. I refuse to acknowledge that I'm 5' 6". Can't be. Surely I can stand up straighter ! I need to move to Ecuador where they're all shorter than me. At least Dr Keller is a lot younger.
I'm trying to get an appointment with my urologist before we leave. No red flags, just good to do. I've already got an appointment coming up with the dermatologist on May 19. Next colonoscopy isn't due until 2025. That doctor has already retired.
That is about it.
