Dec 7-23 - a new record ?

Yikes. Another two weeks gone. Traveled north - Covid test at cvs at 11 am before leaving, overnight in Columbia then Meadowlands, outside of Pittsburg, then Davies then north.

We got our Covid test results about 4pm before getting to Meadowlands. Great timing. Smooth border crossing.

Getting to the cottage on Wednesday, I checked out the furnace and concluded that it was the gas valve. I called Northern Mechanical and they postponed from Thursday to Friday to have the valve. After most of a day's work, replacing the valve, the control board, doing a cleaning, replacing the flame sensor … 1st service in 15 years … guess that I can't complain.

In the meantime, we lost power from mid day Thursday to mid day Sunday. The generator got lots of exercise. Now I have to do an oil change; picked up a filter in Parry Sound, so I'm ready.

We had snow and ice but that all melted before we got here. However, we now have more snow and about 5" of ice. It remains to be seen how much out front is safe.

We have a couple of trees down - Sandy watched on fall into the cove, a big one. I had cut off some of the branches and today quite a bit of the trunk, now that I have ice to stand on.

I replaced the Simon XT security system with Ring. Our houses match now :).

I WiFi'd the switches for the well pump and kitchen water heater. I should do the same with the on demand water heater … perhaps another day :).

David and Vanda came up for the weekend and we cut a tree along 522 by the ESS. We could have crossed the lake for a tree … but that would have been by boat!!

Today, Dec 23, we decorated. Correction, Sandy did most of that.  I hung the lights on the tree and from the beams. We're finally looking Christmasy.

On Monday, Sandy went to Sudbury. On Tuesday, I went to Parry Sound. Yesterday, we both went to the St Lawrence Market in Toronto.

Yes, we've been busy.
