Apr 14/15 - a little of this

It's been pretty quiet this month on the administrative Randonneuring front; very little to do for Randonneurs Ontario, the Granite Anvil or Randonneurs USA.  Everything is up to date and/or awaiting next steps.

I've got a couple of route changes to look at for RO as the Line 5 bridge over Highway 400 has been removed.  For the GA, we are in wait mode; the end of March passed with a handful of people dropping out and others taking their place.  For RUSA, I'm awaiting the new jersey fabric sample and then we'll put that into production.  I've had a bunch of emails regarding stock replenishment but that's about it.

I've done a little bit of outside work -- the soffit -- and mostly finished that yesterday by painting the J-Strip.  It would have been easier to paint it before getting it up there but oh well.  I'd have probably painted more strips but only used one.  I still have that one hole up from the loft to fix; still pondering that.

I have had some inside work, dealing with Sandy's Apple issues and fussing a bit with the old iPad.  I did get it connected to the internet via bluetooth but it's incredibly slow and uses cellular data, so that's not a great solution.

I had, of course, to file our taxes.  A letter came in from Social Security with a bunch of enclosures ... not ... none of the named enclosures were enclosed.  I found them on the internet.  It's a filing to do with my "foreign" pensions (Canada), being CPP and TPF&C to ensure that I'm not enjoying some windfall but with a) the Canada/US totalization agreement, the government pension is taken care of and b) since I worked for the same company in both countries, the Canadian portion of my pension is simply an offset to the US Qualified Plan pension.  No windfall here !  I had to contact the TP administrator and get a letter from them.  I already had a letter from the CPP (and of course the US did the filing with CPP), fill in a bunch of forms, most of the information either missing or irrelevant, and write a letter rather than use their little 1" box for comments.   That package went out the door yesterday.

It's quiet on the street.  We see Gene and Judy out there occasionally but haven't gotten together in quite a while.  The same goes for Harris and Debbie.  Chet and Jean got back a couple of days ago after almost 4 weeks of traveling -- a combination of business and pleasure, hiking the Grand Canyon and Sedona among other things.  I see that Chet has grown a beard but haven't been close to him.

Cassie has been out a few times on the Skiff over to the sandbar.  We had a glass of wine at the Tiki on Friday night followed by Pompano at home.  Last night we had tuna.  Tonight it will be steak out of the freezer as Publix is closed on Easter Sunday.

Mass was busier than usual today, Easter Sunday, but the church wasn't full.

The weather continues to heat up. We've had some pretty windy days.  Friday the wind was coming from the east and it smelled of bird guano.  Those pelicans are  roosting somewhere !

Arlene is due here on Wednesday and leaves the Tuesday following.  Kathy is also due here sometime in there and leaves the same day as Arlene.    I haven't been following Facebook so I'm not sure where she is right now.  I should check, just out of curiosity.

I'll get organized today for a 600k tomorrow and Tuesday.  I'm way behind in my accumulated mileage this year, many weeks where I've not gotten out much.

Onward !
