Jul 2 - travel day

As expected, it was a long day.  I left myself plenty of time in case things went astray but they more-or-less stayed on track.  19:30 after leaving the NH hotel in Rome (nice hotel, by the way, thanks Shab), I was at the cottage at 11pm.  The only mishap along the way was when I dumped an entire cup of McD's cappuccino on myself as I drove out of Parry Sound ... perhaps I was reacting to the step down in coffee quality ?

The Rome airport is amazing, shopping shopping shopping; people, people, people.  Toronto Terminal 3 is, by contrast, a real PITA.  Long walks down empty corridors (other than people), long queues - over 30 minutes for the "express" DIY customs & immigration stuff -- c'mon Toronto, add more machines !

I had a great lunch in Rome airport, saying farewell to good coffee, mozzarella and tomatoes.  Nothing in the world compares to these three in Italy.

Chirp chirp, cheep cheep here as I have smoke detector batteries to replace.  Gavin tried but it's the one attached to the monitored alarm, which takes CR123 Lithium batteries.  They're long life but definitely not forever.

Lots to do and little time before I head to the UK.  Yikes.

Onward !
