Aug 7-10 - now where did I leave off ?

I'm leaving major gaps !

Well, after all our theatre (proper English spelling of theatre), we visited Cambridge, walked around and had lunch, caught the occasional shower and headed back to our hotel.  It's a little more than a 1 hour drive.

We walked into Chingford for dinner, finding that most restaurants were closed on Monday but we did finally have a good Indian dinner.  I texted Alnasir that we were in London eating Indian; missed his help ordering food !

Next a.m. we were out early before breakfast on our way to Gatwick.  It's almost two hours in traffic and timing worked out; we were checked in 2 hours before flight time heading to security and then looking for breakfast.

The flight was uneventful and Montreal airport was a breeze compared to Gatwick.  We were quickly through immigration, got our luggage and through customs, picked up by Jim and Sheryl and on the road to Hemmingford.  We had dinner at the golf club, managing to stay awake long enough.

Moving to Wednesday we drove to Vermont sans luggage to see Marda and her new digs.  I tried to help her with a dead iPhone but no cigar and a wifi printer with similar results.  We did successfully help her move some furniture and had lunch at a restaurant called bark-something which was quite good.   Back to Hemmingford I had a Granite Anvil conference call at 6pm; then dinner; then a RUSA Board call at 8pm.  Ugh !

Thursday we had about the smoothest trip ever back to the cottage from Hemmingford. The NAV predicted 5pm; I told Jim probably 6pm; we arrived at 3:10 ... how's that for a great trip, exceeding expectations !!  There was no traffic and we only stopped twice, briefly.  Unfortunately we hit Loring 10 minutes too early to pick up the mail but fortunately Jason, Lorraine, Kim, Gavin and Amanda were still at the cottage so we could visit before they headed out.

On Monday G&A head to Japan, the first leg of their 4 month trip ... wow.  Good for them.  Do it while you're young.  We're doing it while we're old :).

And that's that, a very busy 4 days.

Right now I've got riders on the road, the first pre-ride of the Granite Anvil.  It looks like they got into Parry Sound after midnight last night.  That's about what I'd expect for a challenging 400k first day.  I'm not sure what time they'll hit the road heading to Bancroft but I'm betting 6am.  I'm watching SPOT's.

Onward !
