Sep 12/13 - the wood is piling up !

Have I mentioned that Philip's daughter Meaghan had twins ?  Yes, and BIG twins -- 8 & 7 lbs ... wow.  We've seen pictures forwarded by Philip.  It didn't even look like she had gained that much weight !

Meanwhile, back at the ranch ... I cut a couple of small trees on Monday, dead stuff threatening the road, not firewood per se.  Yesterday Pat, Helen, Kevin (our trapper) and I were out there and took down three trees at Stillar's hill.  Pat and Kevin have big trailers and filled them up; I made several trips back to the cottage with my little trailer filled with big chunks destined for the splitter.  It will likely get a good workout this coming weekend as David and Vanda are thinking of coming up.

The weather has been glorious, sunny and warm.  Sandy has been walking the road, out in the kayak etc.  For the most part it's been almost dead calm.   Wonderful.  However, she's getting bored and we're looking at travel south dates that may be before Thanksgiving, nothing nailed down yet.

Late yesterday I walked Lisa and Ivan, her partner, through securing my skiff in Florida.  It was somewhat balanced on the rear sling, weight on the swivel platform at the back, tied in place at the front, nose up high.  I had some ratchet tie-downs in the garage to pull the bow down to take the weight off the platform; they put the plug in the boat, lowered it and pulled it forward so that the weight was on both slings.  Cassie is now happy that "her" boat is secure.

Our next wood cutting trip is likely tomorrow, Friday.  Jason, Lorraine & Kim arrived around dinner time yesterday so there will be four of us cutting wood.  The three that we cut yesterday were alive, so it takes more time with the brush.  Assuming that we take down some of the dead elms close to Ernie, they'll go more quickly.

Today ... I hope to get out on my bike.  It's about time !

Onward !
