March 27 -- another day another ride

Carol and Alistair left this morning around 10:30. They were in no rush since they only planned to get to the Carolinas, somewhere north west of Columbia. Alistair knows someone up there.

We had a great time with them -- perfect houseguests, easy to get along with. We're looking forward to hosting them up north at some point.

Jeffrey called, having read my blog and wanting to know how I was doing.

I went south today -- another ENE wind -- and turned around at the visitors center. I used the gels today and noticed that they do not give me as much energy as gatorade or powerade (which I had yesterday) -- I probably need twice as many gels as I'm consuming. Hmmm.

I got back around 4pm, had a shower and then we went to pick up the M5 at the dealer. Sandy stopped at Bed Bath and Beyond on the way back while I stopped at Boaters World (to pick up an anchor) and Pep Boys (oil filter and oil). I have to change the oil in the X5 before we head north.

Earlier in the day Sandy went looking for ceramic tiles for the backsplash -- without any luck.

Ride stats -- 3 bottles of water; 5 gels; 70.3 miles; 16.8 mph.
