March 8 -- a little further today

Great day to ride, although I got a late start. I had intended to leave around 10am, but the next kitchen contractor to quote came at 9am and of course I got involved as well. As a result, I did not leave until 11:15.

This contractor is the one who did Patty & Norm's place -- like the other two, he knows his stuff and probably espouses the best building practices eg. all plywood. He could also end up being the most expensive -- we'll see.

We are finally going to get the new tires installed on the X5 -- they have been sitting in the garage -- we have to get them installed because the tires for the 330 will arrive tomorrow. They will go up north with us packed into the boat. Sandy stopped at Tire Kingdom today and they confirmed that they could install on the X5 rims so we'll take it in tomorrow.

After going to the tire place Sandy went to Patty's to see her cabinets and then took Abby to the dog beach -- the beach area facing Ponce Inlet where you can take dogs ... on leash of course. Abby loves it there, rolling in the sand and frolicking in the water.

With the wind from the NE, I rode north. Wanting to extend the ride, I went 10 miles past the intersection of US 1 and I95 into the town of Palm Coast. I never actually saw the town , only some of the outlying subdivisions. US1 is wide open at that point and easy riding.

Still lots of motorcycles -- more traffic today, building for the weekend I expect. I like having them on the road -- interesting to watch, easy to tell when they are approaching from behind, and they leave lots of room for a bicycle.

Nutrition -- 3 water bottles; 2 small cliff bars; 4 gels;

Ride stats -- 80 miles; 17.4 mph.
