Nov 1 - let the hunt begin

Well, the hunt actually begins today, not on the 1st, but that's the blog title that came to mind. Besides, there are enough people in orange around that you'd think that it was hunting season ... just no shooting yet.

I went to Mass as planned in Britt and got back just before noon. I was eating my lunch when Jim called, talked to Sandy, who said that "I'd be there in 10 minutes" and as they were on the phone, the doorbell rang. It was Alex at the doorbell.

We emptied Alex's car then got out the 4 and 3 wheelers and headed over to Jim's and then followed him to that downed tree close to 522. Jim was intent on cleaning up Osprey Road so we helped rake the brush off the road and move the pieces of tree as Jim cut them up. He's fairly anal about these things ... I might have gotten to it eventually. Perhaps I need to be a better citizen ...

Having done our duty, we got organized and drove the paths through the bush deciding on where to sit today. I'm not sure that we've actually decided but we at least ensured that the paths were navigable before we got out there in the dark. That will happen shortly. Afterwards we went fishing ... I got a pike and Alex got some exercise casting :).

Sandy did her thing with my favorite dinner -- ham that Alex had brought, scalloped potatoes, beans, coleslaw -- it was excellent. I can eat ham until the cows come home, and come to think of it, the cows are quite happy that I'm eating ham !

That's about it. A glorious day in the sun followed by ... you guessed it ... rain on the way. We'll be sitting in the bush in the rain today. It's not raining now but looking at the Doppler, that won't last long. The rest of the week is on and off with quite cold weather predicted for later in the week. Snow is expected ... not a bunch, but with temps expected to be in the low 20's Fahrenheit, it won't be raining.

On the H1N1 front, Meagan seemed to be doing better later in the day so that's good. Hopefully that's another bullet dodged.

Onward ...
