Nov 9 - on the water, briefly

We did go for a boat ride but it was windy and cool. The NE wind was pushing large waves over the Ponce Inlet breakwater creating a good show, but not one that we would venture into. We gave Abby a short romp on the island but the tide was running out and I didn't want to get stuck on the sand at the back-side.

When we got back to the marina, Doug was out to lunch so we waited almost an hour for him to come back to get the boat out of the water and rinsed. In retrospect, it would have been better to go home and wait for their call ... but we'd been told that he was having a "short lunch" ... not so short :).

The big news, however, is that we have renters for the Saxon house. There was a message on the phone when we got back and later we headed over to Ocean Breeze and signed a property management contract. A landscaper, pregnant teacher and older Dalmation will move into the house on November 18th for a one year lease which presumably will run until next Nov or Dec 1. We have a few chores to do before then and we'll meet with the people at some point to give them the run-down on some routine housekeeping items.

I also realized this morning that I'll have to call the utility co's to have them take a reading and shut-down my utilities. I should send Marcia at Ocean Breeze an email on that ... they'll need to contact Florida Public Utilities (gas) and Utilities Commission New Smyrna Beach (water and power).

I also have to contact my insurance agent with the change, including having Ocean Breeze also named on the liability policy. Last but not least, I have to get my boat trailer out of there. Sharon Carpenter, our agent, has offered to have it stored on her property, but that's obviously not a forever-term situation.

Stuff ... stuff ... but it's moving forward stuff ... all good.

After visiting Ocean Breeze, we went down town NSB to visit Total Vision since we're contemplating using my former employer's vision care policy. I think that we'll move forward on that. We were impressed with their selection of frames and their knowledge. That's one more service that we won't be getting out of Toronto.

Then we crossed the street and renewed our gym membership for the next four months. One more thing has been checked-off the list !
