Mar 27 - how could I forget !

Insert good news here ...

Sara and Jeffrey got great news from the CVS testing -- all the chromosome tests came back clean ... whew.

------

Now for the part that I forgot !

The paper was still on the counter. The forecast for yesterday was "Not too hot to cut the Grass" ... and of course that's what I did ! I haven't done the back yet and guess what ... it's already too hot, at 9:08 a.m. !

I'm back from my workout with John. He's got a completely different style than Christie. Christie would pick a workout on a machine or outside or whatever and have me do three or four sets at max weight / stress for that exercise. John, on the other hand, has me sweating from the beginning, doing smaller numbers of reps but in quick succession of complementary equipment / exercises. I frequently think "I could go with more weight" but he knows, increasing the weight as I do reps, decreasing the weight, moving to another exercise without missing a beat. By the end of the 46-60 minutes, I'm dripping. No, I take that back, I'm dripping within the first 10 minutes and stay dripping, full body, for the rest of the time ! With John, there's no magic number of reps, it's basically go until you drop, then two more !

Somehow I have to find it in me to do these things on my own.

I just finished greasing my two pairs of Speedplay Frog pedals. I don't simply do it through the grease port though, since I find that doesn't do a complete job. I disassemble, clean with a rag, work grease into the bearings and reassemble. In the process I also reinstalled my Speedplay X1's on the Lynskey and am going to give those a try with my road shoes, which I've not used for over a year, this time using my modified inserts with the taped-on metatarsal pad.

Earlier in the day I gave my noisy bike (the Harley) a wash. I've cleaned it before but never really washed it with running water. Of course afterwards I went for a ride-around-the-block spin to air-dry it. Early in the days when Stef had her license she would wash the car just so that she could take an air drying ride :).

The weather is looking to be hot this weekend, with predicted temps in the mid-80's, for my 600k. That means over 90 on some of those roads -- been there done that -- and hydration challenges.

--------

I got the second copy of the blood test results in the mail yesterday. It was just as illegible as the first, a bad copy of a bad fax. However, because there is a crib sheet to go with it, I can figure things out.

It's actually interesting, some different tests than my annual physical (annual, sort of ) bloodwork. Since this is for life insurance, they do some tests that would be more typical of workplace screens. Some examples are -- HIV ... which I haven't had tested since the Green Card application; metabolites of nicotine ... to see if I was really telling the truth about not being a tobacco user in any form; metabolites of cocaine (!), 'nuff said !; plus some other tests that would detect whether I'd been exposed at some point to hepatitis, used various prescription drugs etc. etc.

The usual tests were there too -- PSA, still a very low number, thankfully; triglycerides and other blood sugar tests, all good; total cholesterol, ok; LDL (bad cholesterol), ok; HDL (good cholesterol) -- high -- this was the only thing on the chart that was out of range.

I've got my annual (make that 21 month) physical in April and I'll give one of these charts to my doctor to add to her file. Speaking of which, I called the nurse yesterday and she's faxing the prescription for blood tests to the Bert Fish hospital -- no more Labcorp for me ! I think that they also, finally, sorted out Sandy's which were rejected the last two times due to bad coding.

We had lionfish & shrimp for dinner last night. The lionfish was past its prime, smelling fishy, but tasted ok.

Jeffrey et al are heading for Disney today, supposed to be leaving earlier and returning earlier. It will still be a long day.

Emma got her puppet theater Christmas present yesterday afternoon, courtesy Stef and puppets courtesy Sandy. She loved it. Now we have to get it up to Reading !

I'll go for a ride today. I was toying with the idea of doing another 200k, haven't discounted that yet, but probably not.

Onward !
