Jan 25 - it's always this way

I did some odds and ends around the house including helping Sandy setup the new beds so that Joyce would have somewhere to sleep.  Otherwise, the morning slipped by and I got ready to embark on a new year on my cycling calendar.

... and embark I did.  As usual the first ride is grueling.  I've tried a shorter ride for the first day but it doesn't matter; eventually it's going to be tough.  It feels as if my muscles are fighting against each other, especially with all that skiing.  It almost seemed that it was 75 miles before they were "in the groove" or perhaps that's because I was just about finished ?

The weather was great, slightly cool in the mid 60's and sunny, so no complaints there !  The wind was supposed to be from the south but was actually due east, so I headed north.

Tomorrow, my second ride, will be better !

I have to do a 200k to close out another R12 before the end of January, so that will be early next week.  Then, in February, the brevets start.  There have been brevets already in January, but I missed those.

Joyce arrived sometime while I was out there, after 2pm.  She drove up from Boca Raton, having rented a car.  She dropped that off here at the Avis in NSB and Sandy will be driving her back to the Miami airport on the 29th.  She lives in Hong Kong now ... I don't envy her those flights !

Joyce, like Sandy is getting over a cold.  She has a nasty cough and is taking a variety of drugs prescribed by the ER doctor in Boca.  They're upsetting her stomach, so she wasn't keen on going to the club for dinner.  Sandy thawed a couple of chicken breasts which I put on the grill.  Add quinoa and green beans and we didn't starve.

Today ... don't know.  Perhaps I'll pick up the paint for the den/loft and get started up here.  Perhaps.

Onward !
