I wasn't side-tracked; I was main-tracked.
I was up early a little after 4am working at the den and am just now getting to blogging. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it !
After Mass and painting yesterday, I was out on the bike. It was another beautiful day and this time I wasn't fighting against muscles that wanted to be skiing. They'd given up that fight.
The wind was supposed to be coming from the NE and switching to the SE for today but the switch happened somewhere between Flagler Beach and Daytona Beach and I had a good fight home. I fought the good fight and won !
Home and showered, I took Abby around the block and then we went to the SYC for dinner. It was a free dinner or, to look at it another way, I'd already paid for it, since this was our first visit in January.
Joyce is feeling a lot better but still has a nasty cough. She and Sandy had the burger; I had the Reuben. It's a lot less filling and was great -- sans Thousand Islands sauce -- does that come from Kingston ?
Today, up early as I said, I set to sorting out the computer or rather, getting all the necessary parts on to the desk. I should take a picture; it's almost comical. How can there be so many wall warts ? Eight wal-warts and seven plugs ... and only one PC out of all that ! What I need is one large well-regulated power supply with multiple variable voltage outputs and connectors. Surely that should be possible ? This calls for some standardization guys ! Besides, it's a fire hazard !
Everything now crowded onto the desk and the side shelves off to, well, the side, I've got a 4-foot space along the window wall where I can start laying hardwood. Once I get far enough along then stuff can be moved onto the hardwood but for now I'm packed onto the railing side of the loft.
I cut out that 4' section of carpet and underlay and now have the bare plywood. Today is garbage day and I'm taking full advantage. There were an unbelievable number of staples in the floor from the carpet underlay which I have now removed. I'm mostly all set. I need to do some painting re-coat and pick up some more flooring. I've got two boxes but that won't do it. I think I need another six which will then have to acclimatize so I'll be stalled like this for a few days, which isn't a bit deal.
Sandy and Joyce are going to Deleon Springs today to see the manatees. They're really just checking to see if they're there for Kim Davies :).
Joyce leaves tomorrow unless she changes her flights. She is contemplating that since here to London to Zurich to Hong Kong will be brutal if she's still under the weather let alone her riding companions, i.e people in adjacent seats, who will object strenuously to her coughing !
Onward ...
