Well, it depends on how you measure. I'm half-way across the floor by linear feet but more than that in terms of total work, I think, due to furniture juggling, less than that because I've got pillars and doorways to work around ... probably balances out to half.
I figure that the worst is over though since the furniture is all on the hardwood.
I did run into something odd though. I had one piece of flooring from the last package that I'd bought before Christmas and went to start a row with that and then another piece from the new packages and found that with this batch they've put the tongue on the other end of the flooring. The flooring is all tongue and groove so if you picture the tongue of the length of the board facing you then there's the groove on the opposite side. There's also a tongue and groove at the ends of the board and the new batch reversed them. What that means is that you cannot join these boards together in a row. I have a couple of short spots coming up where I'll be able to use that one stray board, not a big deal.
That was the good news. The bad news is that as we were juggling the desk with the computer still running, I unplugged the UPS for what was to be a brief time and re-plug it in and everything shut down. The connection to the battery had pulled loose. Drat.
When I started things up, the Windows CHKDSK went on endlessly patching things up and then once rebooted, Outlook wouldn't start. Drat. I checked online and found a command that might fix things but no go. I created another mail profile, started Outlook and it said that my mail file wasn't a mail file. Oh oh.
So ... I simply broke down and went to the backup that took place on Sunday night, restoring the entire Windows environment. I'd received quite a few emails during the two days but once back up, I copied those over from gmail. Now I'm only missing mail that I sent to which no-one responded. I don't think there's much out there. There was no point in only restoring the mail file and then finding later that some other system files or My Documents files were also corrupted.
It was stupidity to do this moving without either backing up the files or shutting the computer down.
I had my session with John and we found exercises that I could do without stressing the shoulder. Late in the day the therapist called and I have my first appointment for February 11. Bonnie tells me that she will be pretty but I think it's a man ... aw shucks.
I also called my health insurance to find out what's covered and I'm good for 60 sessions, co-pay of $50 each. I don't want 60 sessions ! She also said that I had to be working towards a goal. Yes, my goal is to be able to lift my arm.
Much earlier in the day I organized things for the International Super Randonneur award, which is basically brevet rides in four countries. More specifically, it's a series of 200, 300, 400 & 600 in four countries with being able to substitute longer rides for shorter. So ... Granite Anvil and Shenandoah in 2009 (Canada & U.S.), Miglia in 2010 (Italy) and PBP in 2011 (France). I'm mailing the documentation off to a fellow in the U.K. who administers the award.
Today ... 200k for January to complete another R12. Saturday, 200k brevet in Gainesville to start the season.
It's supposed to hit 83F today with a 17mph wind from the south, so guess which direction I'll be heading !
Onward ...
