... but what a re-run !
Let's start with the end of the day. Sandy did her lamb ribs marinade and I grilled them in the rain. Before that we had the tuna tartar and after that we had the molten chocolate cake. That puts me, oh, about 200 miles behind in my riding, calorie-wise ! :).
We did some touring for much of the day, going into Merritt Island to find manatees. It appeared that there weren't any at the Springs where Sandy went with Marda and Angelika, so we had to look harder.
Initially it was a dry well -- nothing at the manatee observation deck at Haulover Canal. We decided to try Bair's Cove boat launch just down the road and were in luck. In fact, there was a boat moored and a manatee right in front of us lolling in the water. We stayed in the area for a while and watched it and other manatees doing their not-so-cardio thing.
Actually before the manatees, there were feral pigs / hogs in front of us as we parked. I got out to take a picture but they then got skittish and faded into the underbrush. No worry ... we saw more later.
After the manatees, we went and toured down Black Creek Drive, quite an interesting meander through restricted areas of the park. We saw and photographed an alligator, took the aforementioned pig-pictures and were amazed at the flocks and flocks and flocks of aquatic birds.
Next ... back home ... almost. Before leaving the island we stopped at some orange trees that we'd seen on our way in and Jason, Kim and I picked a couple of dozen, make that about three dozen, oranges. I made juice out of all but 10 this a.m., tart and good with millions of seeds. Clearly these were not eating oranges.
We had a good day.
The re-run was some of dinner. The first time that we'd had the combo of tuna tartar appetizer and molten chocolate cake was with Linda and Alec a few years ago. I forget what the main course was that time and will not check my blog :).
Today ... flying by again ... so much so that I'd forgotten to finish and post this blog !
Onward !
