Yes, I have to do some math to post my blog. That's because my watch still says that it's yesterday. That's because it counts to 31 and there were only 30 days in April. Why is that ? If I had arranged things, there would be symmetry. Each month would have the same number of days. The transit of Earth's orbit would be evenly divisible into days. What's with this randomness anyway ?
I did some computering yesterday. A new external drive arrived that holds two upright-inserted 2.5" (laptop-like) drives. I've been carrying around those drives and using them in USB 2.0 cases, but this is a USB 3.0 device. Faster. Much Faster.
Anyway, I was having some random disconnects after a pause in usage with a message --
The device "JMicron / JMicron USA USB to ATA/ATAPI
Bridge" was unable to connect to its ideal host controller. An attempt will be
made to connect this device to the best available host controller. This might
result in undefined behavior for this device.
Naturally this was causing undefined behavior. The disk was disconnected, couldn't be reconnected or if reconnected, was now at a different USB port; you get the idea. I did some playing around with the USB bios settings and the error has now been resolved. It's likely something to do with the Linux EHCI driver.
So, now that I've resolved this, although perhaps not in the most efficient way, I ordered another of these docking stations so that I only have to carry around the drives, as we move north to south and vice versa. Next up, I'd like it to be booting from this docking station, rather than from the eSATA drive, but one step at a time.
I also did more research into the throttle body issue but without success. I did take apart the corrugated boot that leads from the air filter to the throttle that has the MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor) inserted. I'd never looked at this thing before. I have no idea how it works because it's only a little wire gadget that's in the center of the air flow. Somehow that measures the flow and reports it to the ECM (Engine Control Module, I think that's what it's called).
I know what to do ! Reboot the car and change some bios settings ! If my PC can have EHCI (Enhanced Host Controller Interface), why can't my car have EHCI (Enhanced Hiccup Car Interface). I just want to eliminate that annoying hiccup !
What else ... not much.
We had Copper River salmon for dinner along with potatoes and zucchini and some other little round squash. Everything went on the grill. It was one of those days.
Onward ...
