Aug 10 - ready for testing

Did I already say that I'd finished up the wheel ?  Perhaps.  At any rate, I did more bike cleanup yesterday, changed the chain which had deteriorated way more than I expected over the course of LEL, checked the the rear wheel for true (right on), and generally checked tightness etc. all over. 

I followed along the cyclists -- Stephen has a SPOT, which I'm now going to get -- so we get a position update every 10 minutes.  It's really neat.  Check it out !  I think that George and Geri should have one too !.

I kept the rider progress spreadsheet updated based on emails and conversations with Dick, talked to the restaurant, motel, porta-potty place ... this is exciting stuff !

It seems that the Hampton Inn in Napanee was mixed up at check-in, so I'll have to address that. 

The riders will finish up in Oshawa likely this morning. When I got up they were stopped a little west of Brighton but they're on the move again.  I can tell if they are stopped because Stephen's SPOT stays still for at least 10 minutes. 

I went into Mass for 4:30 yesterday; the Thompson Gang was there too.  Leanne, Christine's daughter was there with her friend -- she'd been working the day before and hadn't gotten to the cottage until that a.m.

What else ... ?  not too much.  It was a cool day, temps starting under 50 not quite getting to 70.  Today looks like much of the same although it's a couple of degrees warmer at this point.  I'll get out on the bike, weather permitting and it looks like it will.  I'll get out again on Tuesday with Jerry Christensen, who is due to arrive tomorrow.  He and I will just do a short check-out ride on 522, stretch our legs.  We won't want to overdo it because the ride starts Thursday a.m. at 4:00. 

What else ... ?  nothing that I can think of.  That will occur to me as soon as I publish this blog.  Sometimes I wait, thinking that things might pop into mind but then I forget to post the blog until later in the day or even the next day.

I've been having some hard drive problems, or at least the PC has lost communication with the external drive, so I've been backing up DOCS every morning.  I shouldn't say anything, of course, but it's been running fine for three days running.  I'm beginning to wonder about this external drive strategy, seems to be problematic.
