What an end-of-day ! We brought home 15 fish, threw more than a dozen back (small crappie and catfish) and lost a big pike that broke Megan's line. We couldn't put minnows on the hook fast enough and eventually ran out of minnows. It was time to leave anyway so it wasn't as if we were leaving much behind.
It's raining now; the rain that didn't come yesterday. It was a beautiful day and I actually sat down for a while and enjoyed the weather. The Muskoka chairs in the cove got good use as did the deck chairs -- that's where we ate dinner. I think that was the first time this summer !
David helped me wrap the gazebo and hang the lights. It went a lot quicker with two of us. Later he took Kim and Megan knee-boarding with the Whaler and then I took him out waterskiing with the Bayliner.
Soon I've got lots of packing decisions. Our plan is to leave Sandy's car at the Buffalo airport because I'm flying back 10 days later and then driving it to Florida after I go to my Randonneurs Ontario meeting on Sunday Sept 14. I'll leave stuff in the car for that trip so that I'm traveling light when I fly back.
Jason took his gang out skiing and tubing and also got more work done on the kitchen basement. It's looking good, all closed in now.
Well, there are projects un-done this year. I didn't do the top-n-bond on the ramp to the barn, nor did I pour that extra landing at the top of the stairs, nor did I paint the deck railings. I've accumulated more aches and pains -- a problem with my left elbow that makes it hurt to straighten, a pulled muscle in my left leg that seems to have happened riding around in the car at the Granite Anvil, believe it or not, and, of course, my rotator cuff problem. Getting old is no hell.
Onward !
