Sandy emptied the buffet and hutch, cleared the walls of pictures, masks, whatever else. I loosened all the granite counter tops (had already removed the backsplashes) and removed the bar sink and faucet; closed off that plumbing, or at least temporarily.
I'd made a trip to Home Depot to pick up some shark-bites for the plumbing. That's definitely the easiest way to close off 1/2" copper. Quick and easy and removeable -- once the cabinets are out of the way, I'll be able to close off the plumbing inside the wall rather than inside the cabinet.
I also removed the entranceway closet bi-fold mirror doors and took them to Habitat for Humanity. I'm sure that someone will want them. Then I mostly cleared out that closet. We'll have some juggling to do once we try and relocate things to permanent homes when all this is over. That closet won't exist any more.
It rained all day save a couple of short patches where it just drizzled. Today has started off the same, but the Doppler now looks clear. I don't know if that will continue, however -- it was clear most of yesterday too, but the rain kept coming.
This morning I setup four ziplocs of dry ingredients for my bread -- flour, sunflower/flax/sesame/poppy/chia seeds, salt and sugar. The yeast, water and olive oil will wait until I'm ready to make bread.
The weather looks great up north, 21C and sunny. I believe that Jason is there for the weekend. We are definitely here too early but had a great time with Jeffrey et al and George et al.
I should go biking today but will wait to see what the weather brings. I've got to roll up the carpet in the loft; the one downstairs will wait until tomorrow.
Monday will be crazy. Today and tomorrow will "mostly" be the calm before the storm or is that dust-storm ?
We had Lane Snapper for dinner last night along with potatoes on the grill and green beans; good as always.
Onward !
