It's that time of year in Florida. There are thunderstorms predicted for every day. It was always that way when we brought the kids to Florida -- play on the beach, leave the beach for the afternoon thunderstorm, clear up and go to dinner.
Before I got to the half-way point it started raining heavily. I donned my light rain jacket thinking that it wouldn't stay on long (it was hot !) but the rain continued, mostly light, for the rest of my ride. Since I was "beachside" on the barrier island, the light show was mostly on the mainland. I kept track of how far the lightening strikes were from me by counting the seconds and multiplying by 300 (actually around 340 meters per second) just so that I would know whether to take shelter or not. It never got any closer than 1 second ... hmmm ... but mostly much further.
It did feel good to be out riding.
After cleaning up, Sandy and I went to the grocery store. She'd done some shopping earlier but mostly that was for Zoe and Emma who are arriving today. I was reminded that it's not only Jeffrey traveling ... but heck, I was only judging by the destination of the pack-n-play (inside joke).
Today -- Jim Brendel comes over at 8am to discuss tear out, other work and stairs then I head to the airport to pick up Zoe and her family. I expect that Zoe will occupy the most space in the car.
Onward !
