Oh yeah ? Well, I'll tell you, it's getting a lot of use ! Now that the stairs are gone, the elevator is my access to sanity upstairs with computer and A/C. I've sealed the doors to the upstairs and downstairs bedrooms with masking tape and entry to the downstairs bedroom is via the sliding glass door; access to the upstairs bedrooms, via the elevator. Nice !
There was a lot of progress yesterday. The last little bit of staircase support is being removed as I write this -- bang, bang, bang -- and shortly they'll cut into the garage. Wow !!
Jeff's nephew was here removing tiles, now gone from the kitchen and 1/2 gone from the living room. I suspect that the dining room and laundry room will be left for now, but will discuss with Jeff.
Luke the plumber was here yesterday and he'll be back today to start working.
I talked to the fireplace people yesterday and they'll be here early next week to take advantage of the fireplace being open and accessible from the side.
Electrical .. have to discuss with Jim when he gets here this a.m.
Snag # 1 ... there's a major beam at 90 degrees to the kitchen wall that comes out 16" at the ceiling. The cabinets don't go to the ceiling and even if they did, they only come out from the wall 12". What to do ? Need to discuss with Vic.
Snag # 2 ... the vent pipe for the range hood exits through the ceiling on the near side of that beam. What do we do with that ? One option, suggested by Tony (Jim's guy) is going horizontally across the top of the cabinets and out the side wall. Hmmm. Need to discuss with Jim (vis-a-vis code) and Vic (vis-a-vis aesthetics).
Mirrors. Perhaps we should add mirrors and make these things disappear ?
Oh -- took the X5 in late yesterday and dropped off the living room carpet at the same time, just up the road. "Take your time" we said to the carpet guy !
We did move into the condo yesterday. It leaves something to be desired but it does have lots of living space. Abby got a walk on the beach this a.m. (forbidden, but it was dark !). Don't tell anyone.
Onward, quickly ... oh my !
