Some progress. No major Drama.
Blame it on the dumpster. It arrived very late, after lunch. Jim and his helper didn't want to move things twice so they did some minor demolition, removing the large mirrors on the staircase and really prepping for what will now take place today.
The kitchen is quite another things, however. I was up at 3:30 -- couldn't sleep -- and it was a good thing because I worked steadily until 10:30 when the cabinets were all gone. It was a good thing that Patrick and his two friends were loading things into their U-Haul, because without that, the kitchen guys would have had to haul the stuff away, since there was no dumpster.
I punched some holes in the wall and found where the drain dives down into the concrete. I left a message for Luke, the plumber, so I'm hoping that he'll be here this morning. Basically we're ready for him to do his thing.
One of Jeff's guys is also supposed to be here sometime today, starting to remove tile.
Today could be busy.
Sandy is supposed to go to Orlando today to look at granite. She will drop off the carpet for cleaning on that trip. Then at the end of the day we will take the X5 to the fellow in Holly Hill so that he can replace those ball-joints / bushings.
Harris and Debbie invited us over for dinner, pizza with two warm-showers visitors. The first one, Julie (no, that doesn't sound right, but doesn't matter) is from Australia and was over with her Mom visiting her sister in Toronto. She got to H&D's around 4:30. She's 25, sister is 22. The sister worked at Whistler over the winter -- one of the multitude of Aussies. She then visited PQ and started riding to Miami from Boston. She has a little fold-up bike, amazing.
Pablo, from Argentina, was late, arriving around 8pm. He's been riding for 12 years. He makes a little money as he rides, selling his book and pictures at farmers markets. He's got a child that he hasn't seen in 8 years. Apparently he has quite a slick website. We were making jokes about him, not quite believing everything, and then he arrived ! He'd ridden A1A all the way down to the Lighthouse, missing the Dunlawton turn to the mainland and then had to bike back. His bike and gear weighs 180 pounds. That's not my kind of biking !
After dinner we were supposed to go to our VRBO rental (Vacation Rental By Owner) but didn't. It's 1/2 hour away. The bedrooms have been shut off and are quite liveable. I'm even able to watch Netflix. If I strung a cable across the floor, we could watch our satellite TV -- heck, if I swapped a cable connection at the back of the house then the cable inside our bedroom would be live. Perhaps I should be shutting off shaw.ca for the next month ... hmmm.
Onward -- not quite sure what today will bring !
