Oct 28/29 - did I forget something ?

Sheesh.  The days slip by !

The big news -- Jeffrey and Sara are adopting a baby boy -- Logan Richard Thompson -- born on Saturday !  The adoption is in the works; that will take time; but they expect to have him home with them later this week, if all goes well.

Yesterday I was painting before I was on the computer and the day slipped by on me, so didn't blog about the day before, which is now ancient, ancient history.

The painters have just about wrapped up.  On Monday they put a first coat on all the walls -- living room, loft and dining room -- and a second coat on the loft and dining room.  Yesterday, Tuesday, was spent getting some furniture back into the loft, specifically my computer and side tables and stereo.  Before I moved that Ikea side table/shelf unit, I did what I should have done before George and I moved it, that is put threaded rods in place front to back and side to side.  Now it's rigid and they don't separate when you pick up the unit.

I have something to figure out though, and that is how/where to locate the wifi so that I can watch TV in the bedroom.  I'm getting a weak signal and Netflix isn't keeping up.  I'll do some juggling.  Perhaps I can "see" the signal strength with my laptop, not sure.  I'll try anyway.

There's still lots of furniture to move but Sandy can start cleaning up.  She's already loaded up the buffet and hutch.  Jason will help me (he'll find out when he reads this or when he arrives) move the dining room table and couch out of the bedroom.

Vic called yesterday and the doors are in.  They'll be painting those today and tomorrow and do a big-time install on Friday -- doors, glass shelves, a few drawers, crown molding and other trim.

I've now finished the box-in's on top of the shelves -- beam and vent-hood pipe, and, obviously, finished that pipe.  I still have to go into the attic to do a final secure, dump the two bags of insulation that came down when they removed the bulkheads, see if I can seal the vent pipe to the vent ... I hate working in the attic.  I'll have to be back up there, at some point, to do some more lighting for the kitchen, but we don't even have those lights now.

The living room and dining room fans are due to arrive today so I'll be installing them tomorrow.

Yes, it is coming together.

Oh -- we went to the granite fabrication place on Monday to see the granite; I hadn't seen it in Melbourne.  Well, it had orange spots that weren't there when Sandy and Debbie looked at it.  Sandy had taken pictures with her ipad and sure enough, no orange spots.  It seems that they left it out in the rain and rust has developed and come through since it wasn't sealed yet.  So ... send those slabs back and get two more.  We're hoping that doesn't change our expected delivery date of late next week.

I talked to Sam yesterday and the treads have arrived at his shop.  They're 3" thick and need to be planed to 2" and finished.  He's going to stop by once he has one planed to finalize where they will be installed on the steel plates.  That too is likely a next week install.  Once the treads are in place he'll fabricate the railings, so, as expected, we're into mid-November or so for all that to come together.  Once the treads are in place, I can finish the hardwood flooring in the loft, which will take a day or so.  I need to do that before the railings ... everything must be done in order !

What else ... misc stuff ... ceiling vents, electrical cover plates, silly stuff.  The new miter saw is supposed to arrive today so after Jason departs (he's arriving today and staying until Sunday), I can get at the trim.  Once the granite and sinks are in place, I can finish the plumbing.

I have to call the security company and get that moving too ...

Whew.

Onward ?  I certainly hope so !
