Jan 12 - getting caught up

... mostly ...

I cleaned up some of the mess of cardboard boxes in the garage, ready for recycling, diddled with the car, unpacked / put stuff away, caught up with some accounting -- you get the idea -- man about the house.

Sandy found a new source for shrimp, actually the source for the shrimp guy that used to be at the Saturday Market.  The boat docks in Port Orange, so it's not quite as convenient, but the shrimp that we had for dinner last night were good and crunchy.

The diddling with the car was mostly doing more cleaning in the engine compartment.  I had residual issues that seem to have stemmed from the oil fiasco.  The A/C wasn't working because the e-fan wasn't turning on.  Once I cleaned those connections (they looked clean to start with), the e-fan started working.  With the e-fan working, the A/C compressor cycled on and off but didn't stay on long enough to get the refrigerant cold.  I checked a couple of sensor connections and that didn't seem to make any difference but after doing some more cleaning, this time with citrus cleaner and power washer, it's now working.  Oil is the enemy, it seems, outside of its realm.

I spent some time on the phone with Bonnie, helping her get the tablet working.  The Cogeco person who helped her with the laptop, resetting the SSID for her modem, was full of crap, basically, telling her that her laptop wouldn't connect because it had connected at her daughter's.  Oh right, wireless is tied to one location ?  He also told her that she'd need "professional" help with the tablet ... translated to mean that he didn't have a clue.  I wasn't much better, not knowing the Microsoft Surface, but between us we got it going.  That tablet is overly complicated, since it has the full PC O/S.  Apple did this much better, didn't try to make the MAC operating system the same as the iPhone or iPad.

What else ... not much that I can remember.

Today I will finish some chores around here, make some appointments now that it's a business day, likely go biking tomorrow.

Onward ...
