Actually the 28th, Friday, was lovely. The 29th, however, rained heavily most of the morning. Pounding down, I was soooo happy that I'd brought my heavy jacket.
I did most of the ride with Terry Shuya, my friend from Saskatoon who lives in Jacksonville. He was having a so-so day and I did most of the pulling. Heading north towards Jacksonville from Eustis, even in that rain, we had a tail-wind. That turned into a headwind, of course, for the trip south. It was blowing like crazy but started to abate at dusk. Leaving at 5am, we were back at 11:29 pm (official time) and I was home at 1:10 a.m. this morning.
There was a good crowd out for the ride, probably a couple dozen, in spite of the weather. Once you get to the 400k rides, you're into die-hard territory.
Angelika had booked balloon rides for us but we got a call about 5:30 a.m. to say that they had to cancel. For these to go, the wind has to be <6mph 10mph="" 6am="" a="" and="" as="" at="" blowing="" car="" chase="" course="" direction="" do="" expect="" for="" from="" has="" i="" it="" much="" nbsp="" not="" nw="" ocean="" of="" out="" over="" p="" something="" take="" that="" the="" to="" us="" use="" was="" well.="" which="" with="" would="">
Today ... don't know ... but it will probably involve having a nap at some point !
Onward !
