Apr 16 - to Costco

Yes, I know, is going to Costco such a highlight ?  Well, not really, but I don't do it very often.  I just felt like shopping ...

Every time I drive the M5 I'm reminded that this car was more fun in PA with twisty roads.  We have higher speed limits here but after the first few seconds of acceleration where 400hp really feels good, I set cruise control and I could be driving a ____ (fill in any name).  Oh well, the car needed a run and hasn't gotten much use this winter because Sandy's car is here too.  Being a 2001, it daily sets a new record for the oldest car that I've ever owned ... other than my Dad's Ford Ranger which was a hand-me-down and doesn't count !

Travel north is looming.  I picked up a remote programmable thermostat and if that works to my satisfaction, I'll pick up two more so that all three A/C units are controllable remotely.  Then the question is -- what happens if the modem goes down ?  Perhaps I should give the units fixed IP addresses and put the modem on a once-per-week shutdown timer to force it to reset.  I have to do some experimentation.  Alternatively I could have Lisa do the honors if something goes screwy ... but that might be difficult.  We'll see.  I also picked up 5w30 to change the oil in Sandy's car.  I've got to think about the X5 as well, but will likely do that up north.

What else ... Sandy had her root canal and was icing her cheek last night.  We went to the SYC for dinner; it was practically deserted.  Pasta Night was getting very few customers ... must be the lull after the Lipton Cup (Regatta this past weekend) and Easter.

I talked to Paul Rozelle and exchanged emails with Dan Driscoll about the Florida 1200k that I'm hoping to run next May.  I need to link up with John Preston and Jim Wilson to get them on board as well.  Dan is the RBA in Texas and I wouldn't want to conflict with his plans; he's given me his blessing.

What else ... have the gym shortly and hope to ride today.  It's going to be windy windy.

Dick emailed last evening that they arrived home; sounds like they had a good trip but Nuala isn't keen on long car rides.

Onward ?  hope so !
