Nov 17 - just in time

We could see the heavy weather on the Doppler and figured that it would hit about 3pm ... so we went for a short boat ride to the island and back.  Naturally we also went out the inlet.  Sandy is always bothered by waves in the inlet but I always want to go.  We've seen worse.

We had the island to ourselves.  I guess others could see the approaching weather.  The tidal flow was tremendous but my anchor held.  We got back to the marina about 12:30 and Al was out for lunch but after a bit, when the customer traffic slowed down, the other fellow got us out of the water and I did my thing washing down the boat and running fresh water through the engine.

We were no sooner home than the first drops of rain appeared but it wasn't until close to 3pm that the skies opened.  Actually the skies opened about 2 minutes before Sandy got home from the grocery store.  She parked so close to the garage that it looked like she was trying to get in sideways.

We brought Abby up the elevator and we sat out on the balcony watching the show for a while but it didn't take very long to blow through.  The system was moving from the southwest so we were completely sheltered.

While sitting on the balcony we were talking about whether Marda would come this fall.  Her ears must have been burning because soon afterwards she and Sandy were exchanging imsg's and she had flights booked.  She's coming in Thanksgiving Day weekend and staying for a few days.

I made a run to Home Depot.  I'm trying to decide what to do out the side; should I put down some interlocking brick or deck ... if it wasn't so dang heavy, brick would be easier in that small section.   I guess that there's another option, pull up more deck and interlock it all or make the deck part wider.  Hmmm.  Whatever I do is going to be so-so temporary because eventually we'll have to re-do the deck and interlock in the back.

I'd put a ham on the barbie when we got back from boating and we had that for dinner.  Sandy did her usual accompaniment with scalloped potatoes and we also had green beans.  I've now got lots of ham for sandwiches.

It was quite warm yesterday, low 80's but it's dropping below 50 before sunrise today and won't go up much from there.  As the week wears on it will get warmer.

Onward ?  Yup.
