Apr 15 - cold again

Inside, not outside ... Sandy came back with a cold.  That could have come from Sara and gang or it could have easily come from the airplane ride up, too soon for the airplane ride back.

I did some catchup in the house, no bike ride.  I dealt with a few problems with the bike -- adjusted rear brakes, checked shifting, worked on zip-tying wires more neatly and found and corrected the loose headset / creaking problem.  It turned out that the creaking wasn't coming from the headset -- yes, that needed to be a touch tighter, but the couplers were coming loose !  This bike comes apart with two twisty couplers -- S&S is the brand.  The front part of the bike breaks away from the back and allows the entire thing, wheels included, to go into a suitcase that doesn't get charged for oversize when you're flying.  It will also allow me to easily get the bike into the back of the car.  Three little couplers allow cables to come apart.

Anyway, there's a tool for tightening and loosening the couplers and apparently I wasn't aggressive enough when I put the bike together !  Next time I hear any squeaking, I'll know what it is.  I can probably hand-tighten enough to deal with an issue short term.

Abby and I left at 3pm to meet Sandy's flight due in at 4:15.  She landed on time but I guess many flights landed at the same time and it took a long time for the luggage to start coming out.  Luckily hers was one of the first bags, even before the "priority" travelers, much to their chagrin, apparently.  Still, it was almost 5pm when I got back to the terminal having hung out in the cell phone parking lot.  We were home around 6:15.

We'd planned to go to the SYC for dinner but Sandy's stomach didn't want much so we stayed home.  I did my usual snacking.

My new/replacement front bag did arrive and early this a.m. I got that installed and rode around the block in the dark, checking out the lights and the setup.  There's some side-to-side sway that I'm not crazy about but perhaps that's simply something to get used to.  I could do some more playing with it ... and might very well.  Hopefully the day is conducive to getting out for a ride.

Onward !
