May 12 - underway

The show is underway. The "Main Event" as I've been calling has started with the bulk of the riders gathering in Fort Myers Beach.

Dick and I got to FMB around 3:30 after stopping at Ruby Tuesday for lunch and Costco for supplies. Supplies, in this case, included a big rolling cooler, Gatorade, Coke, Diet Pepsi, Snapple, V8, water, chips, nachos etc etc. These are all for the gathering / registration in Key West today as well as onward.

The car was packed to the ceiling but the Costco was only a few minutes from our destination.

Riders were everywhere, many intros were made. It was pouring rain. Once that let up we started tagging and loading bikes. By 6:30 we still had three stragglers not loaded but everyone was accounted for.

We walked to a local place for dinner. I continued with my new diet - steak and eggs. I'm not experiencing any of the expected cramping and that's likely because I am probably, mostly, a fat burner anyway.

It's 5am and the trucks and Dick are already on the road to Key West. Our room here in FMB is loaded with luggage - mostly bike boxes - awaiting the return of the riders. More will be stashed here before we head to the Ferry.

I mostly sorted out the Trackleaders SPOT devices with Matthew Lee last night. They are all setup on the site.

Today will be another busy day ...
