On Friday, Emma and I cleaned up the brush from the yellow birch, taking it to the end of the road and dumping over the edge. Late in the afternoon we went for a boat ride, out to the Lodge and back. Soon we'll have to change that reference since it's not whippoorwill lodge any more. It's now called Dollar Lake Island Resort. Hmmm.
I hope that they can make a go of it. If you build it they will come does not apply here. When Ted and Gwen ran the place they worked all winter at Sportsman's Shows recruiting guests. The place was always busy.
Saturday am we packed the car and 4x6 trailer and left for Hemmingford. 9 to 5, just like a job. Within a few minutes, Emma was in the pool and I had a glass of wine and a chunk of cheese. We hadn't stopped to have lunch. Sandy had a granola bar; I had a handful of almonds; Emma had Doritos. It was the first junk food that she had with us so perhaps we can be forgiven.
Ham, squash and, for the others, scalloped potatoes for dinner. Excellent !
Today it's raining. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice. Tuesday weeave for Reading PA.
My laptop won't connect to the wifi here. Not sure why. Damn Windows 8. It did a bunch of updates before it shut down up north. Perhaps it's bricked. If so, I will install Linux, VMware and my W7 environment. I should probably just do that anyway and get rid of W8.
