Jul 29 - more brakes

The day started very quietly with the girls sleeping in, but before long Jeffrey, David and I were up at the barn doing another brake job.  This time it was on Jeffrey's VW Routan mini-van.

Without the buildup of rust, this went fairly quickly.  It was a pads-only job so we didn't have to touch the rotors or the caliper hangers.  Easy.  It was a similar setup to David's, with little stainless clips inserted in the caliper hanger that the pads ride upon.

Lunch, sit at the beach, sit in the gazebo, putter around, the day went by.  Lauren did another couple of chapters of the boating test, the major incentive being a ride in the "big boat" (Bayliner).  She ripped through those and I launched the boat then she and Emma and I went down to Dollars Dam to take a look.

It was windy and rough but the waves on this lake seldom become a problem with that boat.  When we had it in Florida it was a problem as the swells are just a little further apart on the Intracoastal Waterway and it becomes a rough ride.

Aaron went for a bike ride while the brake job was underway.  Aaron and Stef went out in the kayaks.  David and Jeffrey went touring back in the bush with the ATC's.  Matthew sat in the water; crawled around on the beach.  We continued to chew through our internet allocation -- which allocation I doubled earlier in the month since we'd been running over and it was cheaper to pay more up front.  I can step it back down after the summer is over.

For dinner we had sausages, sweet potato fries and broccoli.  I made ice cream cones for the three girls.

After dinner we sat around on the deck until about 9:30, the mosquitoes finally getting to us.  We could have moved to the gazebo ... but didn't.  Gavin came over and when I turned in, was still in the kitchen with the gang.

Onward, ho !
