Jul 5 - surprise, surprise

We were sitting outside at the end of the day, talking about when Jason and Lorraine might come up and then Abby started barking -- Chili was in the cove.  They'll be here for a short time, leaving tomorrow (Tuesday) but will be able to look after Abby today so she won't have to ride around in the car all day.  Great !

I went for a bike ride, racing against the horse flies and deer flies.  Race is the word ... at 15mph they can still keep up.  I was the Pied Piper most of the trip.  They draft behind you, visible in your shadow; they fly around you, bump into you, face, legs, arms; they land on you and try to bite, mostly the parts that aren't moving as much like hands and butt.  Oh yes, they bite right through my cycling gloves and shorts.

What else did I do ?  I can't thing of anything !  I'm continuing to rip movies, but that doesn't actually take any time.  It was so foggy in the a.m. that I didn't go fishing. Probably by the time I get out again, my minnows will have gone past their expiry date.

Sandy prepared Kim's receipt for ribs, which is always good.  It's a three step process, boil and broil are two of the steps, forget the third.  They are lemony, not barbecue sauce.  I finished cleaning up this morning; it took overnight soaking the broiler pan before I could clean it.

Southward ... to Mississauga and back ...
