Aug 6 - and the good news is ...

Nothing.  The vet couldn't find anything.  I guess that's good news and bad news -- in some ways you'd like them to find something !

It's a waiting game at this point, waiting until Saturday a.m., that is, when she can go back onto her medicine that alleviates her allergies.  She needs five days after stopping the anti-inflammatory that seems to have caused so many issues and didn't solve any.  Sandy gave her a Benadryl, but she's so itchy now that it didn't help much.  She did settle down for the night, however, sleeping with the cone of shame.

She eagerly attacked her food at dinnertime but was so agitated by the itching that she couldn't eat much.  Hopefully today (Friday) that will be better and Saturday, even better.

The laptop is now W10'd.  That went off without a hitch.  It downloaded quickly overnight and installed without any problems.  That got me thinking whether Bonnie's Surface tablet would benefit from the upgrade, whether it's upgradeable and whether it's free ...

The only hitch so far, that I just corrected in the last few minutes, is the Windows automatic update.  I want to choose when to do my reboots as I have some automatic backups that run in the middle of the night and they're not taking place.  I will probably run into a few other customizations that I want along the way.

On the bicycle front, I did go for a ride, with the Litespeed.

I struggled without a conclusion trying to pack the S&S Bike, for want of a better name.  With the foam protection sleeves on the tubing, I can't get the bike packed in the case to my liking.  I'd probably be ok with the hard S&S case, but am not happy with the soft case.  If I had the time, I'd make a run to True North and get Hugh's help.

I'm considering simply taking the big bike box at this point.  This is such a painful process and I'm not saving any money for this trip, simply adding aggravation.  I'll do some more with it today, including exploring the option of putting the fork in my other checked bag ... but that doesn't really solve the width or security issue.

I also have to put the bike partly back together to replace the rear derailleur.  The upper pulley wheel doesn't spin freely.  I considered simply packing the new RD in the box and replacing it in France, but it's so much more difficult to set it up without a bike stand that I changed my mind.

I've got the Lost Channel Local Roads Board meeting at the Lost Channel Inn today at 10am.  That doesn't run much more than an hour.  Maybe someone else will be interested in being on the board and I can drop off ... but that's not likely to happen.  Oh well.  I should probably run into town afterwards and pick up the mail; we'll see.

Onward ?
