You'd think that we are in Florida, except that it's not as humid !
Sandy opted to hang around here yesterday and enjoy the weather, vs heading to Parry Sound. That made more sense, given that the forecast for Friday and Saturday includes rain.
It was hot out on the road. Plowing my way into the wind along 522 I figured that I'd turn around at 69 but felt better and better as I got closer (thinking about turning around, perhaps ?). I rode on, south into that SW wind, noting that wind notwithstanding, it's always easier to roll on the shoulder of 69 than the rougher 522. The trip back was great, feeling better and better as I rolled. Perhaps I'm not at 100% yet, but I was feeling a lot better than the ride two days earlier and way, way better than the 200k.
Speaking of the shoulder, it's pretty chopped up just south of 522 where they're working.
Sandy found the website that shows all the plans for making the existing highway 69 into four lanes (and of course it will then be highway 400).
In the map below, north is to the right. 522 comes into the map at the center bottom and, as you can see, the interchange is rerouted south and west, close to where the existing highway 69 crosses over the railroad tracks. Those CNR tracks will re re-routed south of that. The old highway 69 is the gray line running right to left (north to south) thus the new 69/400 will be east of the old.
Fascinating. In this link, this is section "C". "A" is just about complete, "B" is well underway and we're driving on parts of it; this is the start of section "C". It's going to be a mess for years !

My question is -- where will I be able to ride once this is all four lane ?
Onward ...
