It really takes a day to get the place totally warmed up, top to bottom. Well, realistically, in the dead of winter it takes more to get the bottom (basement) warmed up, but that's my experience prior to having the big heaters downstairs. Perhaps this year it won't take as long.
Speaking of which, they are now setup and set to their cut-on temperature of 7C They're basically set to come on if the gas furnace fails. If the power fails for a long time, well, neither will run and someone will be rushing up here to turn on the generator !
Other activities
-- move trailer to driveway and hookup to car; test lights.
-- pack more items in trailer, i.e. some luggage
-- take advantage of the low water and remove some rocks from where the big dock sits during the summer. Those rocks made it more difficult to move the dock this fall ... mind you, that's the first time that has happened
-- pack some items in car, notably Sandy's big suitcase and puppy's crate (yet to be named puppy, that is)
-- do laundry (Sandy did this) and pack my duffel for travel
-- organize stuff to go up to the car in the a.m. -- wine, camera gear, satellite receiver, misc items in my den
All of this tied into the latest travel plans -- Chantelle called and said "any time" -- so any time will be tomorrow a.m. We could have left today, but that would have been a stretch. We could have simply picked up the puppy today, and it was a bit tempting, but 5 hours of driving (return trip) to get puppy and bring her here seemed silly ... but I'm not above being silly ... but I didn't.
Still no name.
We'll leave here before 9, hopefully, hit Parry Sound to pick up cash, go to Shelburne to pick up puppy, go to Stef's for a visit, overnight at Jason's, just that little bit closer to Florida, and hit the road in a major way on Friday a.m.
Hopefully that plan will get us to NSB Saturday evening. That's the plan.
We have 5 houses on Keely Circle, 6 if you count Harris and Debbie whose address is on Riverside. In the last year, we lost 4 dogs. Neither Harris & Debbie nor Gene & Judy had dogs, so we've been completely wiped out. Puppy will now be the only dog on the street.
Maybe we'll just name it puppy.
What else ... that's about it.
--------
Morning again. Nothing has changed. We hope to get out of here before 9am.
Steak, spaghetti squash, zucchini, portobello mushrooms for dinner last night.
Soon I'll be turning off all the humming little items here in the den ...
Someone, or perhaps it was Excel Sports, had a Facebook post about prepping your bike for winter. I do that -- it's called pack it up and go south ! I'm looking forward to getting back into a regular routine.
Southward ...
