Oct 27 - a really tough one

Time to ride.  To heck with how I'm feeling.  Need to ride this one out !

Well, I haven't done much riding since PBP, perhaps six five or times out in over two months ?  I haven't checked my Garmin records.  Couple that with very humid weather and a head cold that was pressing in on me ... sure, let's do 200k !

This was tough.  By the time I got to the turnaround my legs were screaming at me and I was dizzy from the headcold.  I'd taken a couple of acetaminophen/decongestant tablets to help things and was hoping that the humidity would actually help the cold.  I'd say, on balance, yes.  How humid was it ?  Well, I was sprinkled on almost constantly, never enough to get wet or put on a raincoat but the air was definitely as heavy as my head !

About 90 miles into the 124 mile ride, my head started clearing.  My legs were killing me but that was no surprise.  I finished up around 4:45 (I'd started at 8:15) and my head was clear.  It's still clear so perhaps I've beaten this one down.  You can still hear it in my voice but I'm on the mend.

There was steady sprinkle through grilling time; chicken but this morning it's mostly clear, although it's supposed to rain.  We're getting the remnants of that hurricane -- not wind, only wet.  Tomorrow and through the weekend it's supposed to be beautiful.

Our first deliveries came in yesterday -- new covers for the grills up north and flavorizer bars and grill for the one; a bluetooth mouse for the laptop (works nicely); a large package of bicycle shifter cables; bulk pack AA and AAA batteries;  I think that's it.  UPS and USPS definitely know that we're back in residence !  There are more orders on the way.

Today is appointment day.  I've got to make appointments for:  dermatologist, physical, colonoscopy (fun), urologist, probably time to get my eyes checked ... whew.  I've also got to call Superior Propane (still working with Generac on their use of my propane; they want copies of invoces) and Arnstein Garage (my cheque hasn't cleared from the tire purchase ... why ?).   Perhaps it's a reaction to having lived my life on the phone while I was working but I sure wish that I could do these things via email. 

Anyhoo ... I should go outside and see if I can see the planets in conjunction ... east, right ?
