Oct 29 - I know this date

Mom's birthdate always gives me pause.  Over 10 years now; a long time.  I can still hear Arlene's voice ringing in my ear, along with Jeffrey's when he called about Alexander.  Philip's call about Dad's passing wasn't as traumatic as either of these as he had a passel of health problems -- not that I expected him to go anytime soon but somehow it wasn't as much of  shock.

Jason, Lorraine and Kim arrived well after dark, having been held up at various times by traffic and construction on their two-day drive from Brantford.  Their attention was immediately focused on Cassie, especially Kim's.  Wine and shrimp were consumed.

Cassie does show more inclination to fetch than Abby.  Perhaps it's the treats ?  No, it's just that after Vicki we simply assumed that Abby would be a retriever Retriever and she wasn't.  There may be a genetic disposition to retrieve but that has to be reinforced by training..

She's had a couple of accidents.  She doesn't quite get it yet that she's supposed to hold it until she goes outside.  If we take her out regularly, she immediately goes on the grass and then comes inside for a treat.  She reminds me of Mya at that age -- inside, sit and wait expectantly.

Deliveries have been coming steadily and stuff is piling up to go north.  Barbecue covers and parts, carbon monoxide detectors, bicycle derailleur cables -- most unrelated items that were on the shopping list.

I've got an appointment with the colonoscopy guy and, as with the first one, I need to have an office visit first.  It's a total waste of time.  Hi ... hello ... how've you been doing ... any changes in your health ... you're the healthiest person that I'll see all day ... see you in a couple of weeks ... bye.  Charge me the $50 for a specialist visit and I'll answer all the questions via email and save you (and me) time ... nope.

As for the other "doctor", nothing yet from that "office" visit.  I don't know why it takes so long for the BMW dealer to read the codes.  It's ridiculous.  If the car can diagnose that there's a problem, surely the code reader can simply do its job.

It looks like we'll simply hang around today; perhaps the Davies will go to the beach.  Perhaps we should take Cassie to the dog beach but she's never been on a leash before, it would all be a game.  Had we gone out in the boat, that fun would be deferred because she wouldn't need the leash at disappearing island.  Soon.

What else ?  Not much.  Laptop and Remote Desktop are getting lots of use keeping Cassie company in the kitchen.

Onward !

Oh, for those looking at this blog and  not seeing some of the Facebook pictures, here are a few:

With Mya, the day that we picked her up; 8 weeks old.

Later that day at the Davies, with Amanda (Gav's fiance).

Traveling to Florida -- liking the bedside table shelf.

Playing with a toy in Florida.

Yet another of her many toys.

Dogs can sleep in many positions !   She's 9 weeks in this picture.

Same time, 9 weeks.  Comparing with pictures of Abby at the same age, she's definitely smaller.
