Is that what happens when you go to a chiropractor ? This was my first time.
She immediately set to work on me, finding tight muscles in my back and hips that were likely pulling my right leg out of line causing that big toe to walk out of line and gradually enlarging the joint causing pain. How does a toe problem originate in the back ? Well, if you don't walk straight ... I knew that I was going in circles ! Oh yes, she also taped my toe or at least around my toe, trying to gently pull it into line.
This was the first session. One hour for $25 ain't too shabby, however, future sessions will be short. She's really close to us, on Canal Street, so it's no big deal going there. I'll be back on Wednesday and will try this for a period of time to see if it makes any difference. Ultimately it may benefit my back and hips without correcting my foot, but that's ok too.
I don't know at this point whether the beat up feeling is due to her work or me picking up a bunch of 8' boards at HD and bringing them home, carrying them out to the back yard and working on the walkway stringers.
After I finished up with Wendy the Chiro, I went across the street to the optometrist to ask about the lenses. Lo and behold, they were covered by warranty and already awaiting my pleasure so I left my glasses and picked them up after lunch. This optometrist grinds the lenses into shape on site. I could have picked them up in a half hour but lunch took longer.
So that's that ...
Cassie is doing well. She goes to the door to pee and poop and simply to go outside so that she can come back inside and get a treat. She's learned that lesson well ! It will be interesting to see if she goes to the door to do her business in the snow up north ...
She's learning other life skills --
-- she brought the ball to Sandy to play
-- her jumping up is toning down; understands the word "no" very well
-- she minds the foot-high fence between us and the neighbors; sat beside it and watched workmen yesterday
-- she's often able to catch a ball on the bounce; excellent foot-eye-mouth coordination
... and she's growing. She'll get her official weigh-in today but the unofficial puts her at 15+ pounds or about double the size of when we picked her up. She's quite leggy and long, the rest of her body not having caught up yet.
She's a good dog and she's really spoiled !
Sandy's really into the gym now; I think that she only missed one day or maybe two. It really does help having a trainer twice a week; gives her the incentive to do the other three days.
Yesterday she picked up flounder for dinner; selection was limited at OceanS Seafood, which does happen. Of course partly that's because I/we steer away from the big (as in big mercury) fish; those pelagics that have a chance to accumulate a lot.
It's 65F outside now, warmer than it got all day yesterday. I had to laugh at the workers outside next door wearing hoodies while I was out working in shorts and a t-shirt. I'm sure that their heavy work was generating more heat than mine and I'm also sure that they have more personal insulation than me, but it's a state of mind.
While I was working and Sandy was out, Cassie busied herself running around and around like a crazy dog, almost as if she was playing with an invisible friend. She dug and pulled at the St. Augustine grass, found pieces of wood to chew, watched the workers at the fence, played with the banana leaves blowing in the wine; yes, it's a dog's life!
Today I hope to get out for a bike ride. It won't be a warm one and I know that it will be windy. The forecast says NE 15mph which means even windier at ground level; I know that well. It's also calling for morning showers; we'll see. The wind is from the north, NE or NW for the next 15 days, according to the forecast. Fall is finally here.
It's quiet on the street; Gene & Judy; Chet and Jean are on cruises. Jim is around, I think, sans Joanne, but I'm not sure. Bob is always here but never in evidence, due to his catering business. Harris & Debbie are in; we need to get together with them for dinner.
Onward ...
