Jun 28 - earning my keep

Wait ... it's a non paid job ... what exactly have I earned ?

Several calls with Louis (or is that Lewis ?), Pat Martin, Peggy ... yup, it's LCLRB business.  Mr. L. wants to get some satisfaction out of the MNR vis-a-vis runoff that went onto his property two years ago and might be the source of contaminated water in his well.  I tried to help him by putting him in contact with the MTO and MNR ... the MTO said that it wasn't their problem; the MNR didn't want to talk to him as apparently they've been down this road ... pardon the pun ... before.

So, Mr. L. contacted Peggy asking her to write a letter saying that it's an MNR problem so that he could send to the Ontario Ombudsman.  Nope.  She's smart enough to contact me.  I cannot say that it's any one else's problem, can only say that it isn' mine.  I talked to Pat to get some add'l background (I'd been through this before but needed a reminder).  I then called Mr. L. and talked to him several times, Pat several times, Peggy several times -- put up with Mr. L. swearing at me, at Pat, at time conciliatory, at times aggressive; I talked to the office of the Ombudsman ... ugh.  Pat called once and then asked why I answered so quietly - "did you think that it was Lou ?".  Yeah.

Louis is now regretting that he dragged me into it.

I told Mr. L. that I would not write a letter to him that in fact I'd write to the Ombudsman and give them the entire history, not just the latest history, which is what he wants to focus on.  He altered the course of the water eons ago, before the road was upgraded, and is now paying the penalty when there's a huge runoff.  Of course it doesn't help that his septic is uphill from his dug well ... no, that's just asking for trouble.

Then I get this "I'm your constituent" and I had to remind him that no, his son is the constituent; he's not the property owner.  His son wants nothing to do with this.  I've not been able to get in contact with the son.  I'll try again today.

Such fun.

My back was bothering me all day; seems that I lifted those suitcases / bike bags, and must have done some twisting.  I had a nap on the couch and while there, Cassie piled toys around me, hoping that I'd do some throwing, piled right on the couch.  I woke up at 2pm ... whoops ... I was due at the Arnstein Garage at 2pm ... called them and made my apologies, drove in and they did the wheel swap.  Sandy now has nice new rims and tires, at a major expense of course.  The car felt ok to me; she's going to take it out to highway 69 today and do a test drive.  Yesterday she took the X5 to Sudbury, had a full day grocery shopping.

In other news ... there ain't any other news ... onward !
