With Sandy and Lauren off to Parry Sound, I didn't head out for a bike ride, deciding to postpone until Sunday. They had a successful trip; Sandy said that Lauren was great as they searched for stuff for Matthew's cake and present (his birthday is July 24).
I worked on the Merc 25, not making very much progress. I can't figure out why the cables are too short to turn the cam. I dismantled it at one point because the secondary cam that changes gears wouldn't move. It has a spring and ball behind it to position it in one of thee places -- forward, neutral and reverse. I removed the carrier this time and installed the cam first, then used lithium grease and worked it to and fro, then reinstalled it with the cam already on the carrier. That worked nicely but didn't solve my cable problem.
At the base of the tiller arm there's a round thingy that's the push/pull for the cables. As you turn it one way, one cable extends and one retracts and vice versa. I need one more inch of cable to extend as the throttle retracts ... I'll have to measure both sides to see if there's equal movement. There doesn't seem to be any adjustment, other than at the cable stops and there's not enough ...
Anyway, S&L were home around 3pm. I went to Mass in Loring at 4pm.
Sandy had picked up shrimp at Tarini's the day before so she served Lauren her very favorite dinner - shrimp, peas and white rice. I'm sure if she had it more often she might gravitate towards something else, but at the moment, that's her favorite. It's unusual for us to have shrimp at the cottage; they're not as good as in Florida, but these were wild caught and flash frozen on the boat (all shrimp are harvested that way). I grilled a portobello to substitute for the rice ...
Another day was done.
We're expecting David and Vanda sometime mid day and Jeffrey early evening. I expect that we'll get an email from him sometime saying that they've hit the road. Stef and Aaron are now supposed to arrive on Friday, as are Kylie and Chris.
Onward !
